Case Study report

The OWH Sustainability Team has made a global call for case studies in February 2021. Over 150 applications were received, and 60 case studies were selected, which exemplify good practices, challenges and opportunities in the sustainable management of heritage sites. The selection was also made to be representative of all world regions and typologies of World Heritage Sites (including sites on the Tentative List). In June 2021, regional workshops were conducted where the case studies were discussed among the case study applicants, an international group of eminent experts from academia and practice, and the OWH Sustainability team. We will present the outcomes of these discussions on July 15, 16 and 24, so that lessons and recommendations from the case study experiences can contribute to the policy recommendations the OWH movement will make on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the World Heritage Convention. Many thanks to all who contributed, and looking forward to having you join us during the July month of debates!
